Basic Search

The basic search facility allows you to quickly search for the items you require. To perform a search, follow the instructions below.

From the Welcome screen, select the product type (bearings, belts, pulleys, chain, sprockets, seals and miscellaneous items), then enter the part number. For example, to search for a bearing 22222 select the bearing product type and enter 22222 in the part number box, and click on ’Search’.

Basic Search.JPG

The Search results screen is displayed.

Basic Search Results.JPG

The search results screen displays all the search results which match the part number entered. BearingNet only searches for the letters and numbers entered in the search box and will ignore any special characters such as , *,/,;.. The more exact the part number the fewer results will be displayed. For example if you enter NU214 only part numbers that are NU214 will be displayed. The ‘Starts with’ box is automatically activated with the basic search, so the search results will only include those parts which begin with characters entered. To get a better idea of all the part numbers available, use the Advanced Search Facility.

If the part number entered cannot be found then BearingNet will attempt to find the closest match to the part number entered by removing characters from the end of the part number until items are found. For example if the part number entered was 22222 C4 XYZ and this part number was not found then BearingNet will re-run the search using 22222 C4 XY. This will continue until part numbers are found. The search results table will then present you with a list of part numbers so you can select which one most closely matches your requirements.

Brand

To search for a specific brand, enter the brand that you require in the Brand Box.

Advanced Search

The advanced search facility enables more complex searches to done. It is particularly useful when looking for the more difficult to find items. To run an advanced search follow the instructions below.

From the Welcome screen, enter a section of the part number e.g. NU215 (the fewer criteria entered the more results will be returned), and select the Advanced Search Option and click on 'Search'. The Search Box on the ‘Search’ Screen and ‘Search results screen’ automatically default to the ‘Advanced Search’.

The Advanced Search results screen is displayed. Here a list of all the part numbers that meet the search criteria is displayed. To view search results click on a part number. To view more than one part number at the same time select each part number by ticking the box next to the part number.

All the displayed numbers can be selected by clicking on the ‘Check All’ button. Once you have selected the part numbers to view, click on the Search button and the results will be displayed. If more than one page of part numbers is displayed then to view the next page click on the next page number.

Advanced Search Results.JPG

All of the options detailed below can be used in any combination making the advanced search a very powerful tool.

Start With Box

On the Search Page there is a box labelled ‘Starts with’ beneath the part number. If this box is selected it means that the search will include all the bearing part numbers which begin with NU215. We can change this so that all bearing numbers which contain NU215 are displayed. To do this deselect the ‘Starts with’ option and click on ’Search’. All part numbers which contain NU215 somewhere are displayed.

Including

You can be more specific by stipulating another search characteristic. To display all part numbers beginning with NU215 and containing C3 enter ‘C3’ into the ‘Including’ box and click on Search. A smaller list of part numbers is displayed. Other characteristics can also be added. For example, to see all part numbers beginning with NU215 containing C3 and EM enter EM into the including box and click on Search. An even smaller list is displayed. This can be done as many times as required. Multiple characteristics can be entered at the same time by separating each characteristic with a space. For example to enter ‘C3’ and ‘EM’ at the same time enter ‘C3 EM’ in the ‘Including’ box and click on Search. Criteria can be removed at any time by clicking on the criteria that you wish to be removed in the Remove Section.

Excluding

Whereas the including option searches for the part number and the including criteria, the ‘Excluding’ option will search for the part number and exclude specific criteria. For example if you do not want to see any part numbers with C3, enter C3 into the excluding box and click on Search. All part numbers beginning with NU215 that do not have C3 in the part number are displayed. Other excluding characteristics can be added.

Multiple characteristics can be entered at the same time by separating each characteristic with a space. Criteria can be removed by clicking on the criteria that you want to remove in the ‘Remove’ section. So to remove the C3 excluding option, click on C3 in the ‘Remove’ section.

Quantity

To view only part numbers with a minimum quantity available, enter the quantity in the ‘Quantity’ field and click on Search. For example, to see only NU215 part numbers with a minimum inventory quantity of 50 enter ‘50’ in the quantity box and click on ’Search’. The part numbers from lists with 50 or more items available are displayed.

Brand

To search for a specific brand, enter the brand that you require in the Brand Box.

Country

If the region setting is selected ('Your Account' 'User Settings' 'Search Page Settings') the search results will be displayed with distributors from the same world region at the top.

If you require only results from a specific country or world region then you can use the ‘Country’ option. For example to see only bearings that begin with NU215 in Portugal, select Portugal in the country pull down list and click on Search. All part numbers that begin NU215 that are available in Portugal are displayed.

Date

When inventory is loaded into BearingNet the date that the information was loaded is added so that you can see how old the information is. BearingNet always puts the most up to date information at the top of the search results.

PT Type

The advanced Search will default to ‘Show all’ which includes all PT types. However it is possible to search for specific PT types only. This can be very useful when searching for more unusual parts. To run a search across all product types so that the search will look through bearings, belts, seals, sprockets, pulleys, chain and miscellaneous items select ‘Show all’ in the PT Type pull down list and click on ’Search’. To search for bearings only, select bearings from the drop down list.

Seals

To search for a particular seal, select 'Seals' from the PT Type drop down menu. A new search box will appear where you can enter the dimensional data of the seal you need. For example if you are looking for a 100X140X12 you would enter 100 in the 'Inner' box, 140 in the 'Outer' box and 12 in the 'Width' box and click 'Search'. Just entering one dimension into one of the boxes will return more results. If no dimensional data is available, enter just the part number.

Seals Search.JPG

There is also a box to enter Suffixes so if you were searching for a 100 X 130 X 13 R23 you would enter 100,130,13 in the dimension boxes (Inner, Outer and Width) and R23 in the Suffixes box.

Search results screen

Once a search has been performed and inventory has been found the search results screen will be displayed.

The screen has been designed so you can find the items you require and send inquiries to the vendors. The screen can be customised and the information can be viewed in many different ways.

Search Results EN.JPG

At the top of the search results screen is the search box.

The inquiries box is located next to the search box. This will be used for sending inquiries from the search results screen. We will look at this later. Then the search results table is displayed.

Search Results Table Description

RFQ Column

The first column of the table contains the RFQ box. This is a tick box which is used to select the inventory items for which you want to send an inquiry. Clicking on the webshop symbol Webshop.JPG in the RFQ column will take you directly to the company’s webshop. If you already have login details for their webshop you will be able to order the part directly without having to wait for a response to your RFQ.

Sorting the Search Results Table

The table is sorted by Region first if activated and then by inventory date by default. All columns can be sorted in ascending or descending order by clicking on the heading to sort one way and clicking again to sort in the opposite way.

In the product type column the following symbols are used:

Recommendation Score

BearingNet has a recommendations facility within the site. Companies who have a gold or silver star will have this displayed next to the company name in the search results table. Information on how the recommendation ranking is calculated is available in the ‘Company Details’ guide

Recommended.JPG

This column identifies which companies you have recommended.

Date

All inventory is dated when it is loaded into BearingNet. The date the inventory was loaded is displayed in the date column.

Contact

Clicking on the contact symbol Contact Details.JPG will allow you to see basic contact information about the vendor. From this box you can click to view their company details screen, their website or send an email to this company via your email program.

Customise search results screen

You can customise the search results page using the search page settings. This allows you to control how some of the information is presented to you. This is available either by visiting the 'Search Page Settings' box in the ‘User settings’ section of ‘Your Account’, or by clicking on the Search Results settings.JPG symbol on the search results page. The settings offer two options. On the search results page the choices are determined by a tick box, and in ‘Your Account’ by a ‘yes, no’ option.

You can also select which layout template you would like for the search results page. By clicking on the Template selection.JPG symbol you can choose what information you want to see displayed on the page and in what order

Sending Inquiries from the Search Results Screen

Once the products have been found then the next stage is to send an inquiry to the vendor to find out about price and delivery. To send an inquiry from the search results screen find the inventory lines about which you want to send an inquiry. For example if you have searched for an NU215 and you want to send an inquiry for 5 pieces of SKF, find the SKF product (you can use the brand sorting option if required) and click on the tick box next to the part numbers. You can send inquiries about any number of parts, however it is better to send inquiries to only those companies that you will actually buy from.

Once you have ticked all the inventory items then go to the top of the screen to the inquiries box. Enter the number of bearings you require then select the delivery you require from the drop down menu.

Then enter any other notes in the notes box. This can be any information you require about the product that you want to buy. This information is optional.

Enquiry.JPG

Once all the information has been completed then click on ‘Inquire’ in the inquiries box. The inquiries are displayed in ‘Buying in progress’ in the Quotes page.

Once the ‘Inquire’ option has been clicked BearingNet sends an email for each inventory line selected. So if you have selected 5 different inventory items then BearingNet will send 5 emails. A copy of the inquiry can be found in the Quotes section of BearingNet. It is now up to the vendor to respond to your RFQ.
